It is freezing and the cold weather has really set in over the past months in the UK. So, if you’re in the mood for something warm and satisfying that will cheer you up but also be healthy, then continue to scroll down. These foods are all healthy, and if you do not have a food intolerance (see intolerance test here) to any items, they are a real treat!
Souper Stuff
The temptation in the Winter is to opt for comfort food because we become lazier and don’t always want to cook in the cold. These delicious soups will warm you up though and they are quick and easy to make. PLUS, you won’t develop too much of a winter coat as all foods are healthy! Remember though, there are a lot of ingredients in these soups so please read the items carefully and if you are worried that they might cause intolerance symptoms then please don’t hesitate to order your intolerance test just to double check.
Bean and Carrot Soup
Let’s start with Bean and Carrot Soup. Honestly, it is delicious. All you have to do is find one small onion and finely chop it into minute pieces. Make sure it is simply the strong onion that is making you cry and not that you are intolerant to the onion. This is because itchy and runny eyes are a symptom of food intolerance or allergy.
Add a finely chopped celery stalk to your mixture. A fun fact/myth about celery is that it is the only food that you burn more calories eating it than you actually consume. There are some people that have developed food intolerance to celery due to overindulgence though, so rule out celery as intolerance by ordering your intolerance test!
Next, we move on to carrots, an integral part of Bean and Carrot soup (aha!) Carrots have many health benefits and help us to see in the dark, so you should definitely check them out here!
On to 300ml of vegetable stock which will add both texture and taste to the soup, alongside one sprig of parsley and one sprig of thyme which you will need to add. Both nutritious whilst also offering taste and delight, the thought of this soup is probably beginning to make your mouth water. Imagine consuming soup without the worry of experiencing any intolerance symptoms! Begin your new journey with an intolerance test and you will taste delight!
We’re almost there now, just one bay leaf to add alongside 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg! Then, we move on to the other essential part of Bean and Carrot soup; 50g of white beans, all cooked and drained! Yummy!
Lastly, we have 100ml of soy or oat milk to add which makes soup, soup! Unfortunately, milk is one of the most common food allergies, especially in children, but it is also a common food intolerance. Fortunately, there are many alternatives to milk, including soy and oats, but you should be careful!
