Why does food intolerance testing leave a bitter taste for some?
For those of us in the love camp, we know that food intolerance testing offers unique insights that can significantly enhance client outcomes. Not only do these tests reveal foods that may be underlying symptoms without the need for a trial-and-error elimination diet, but a test result showing multiple results may also be associated with intestinal hyperpermeability (aka leaky gut) which is something that is harder to detect through other testing methods.
The main concern outside of the love camp stems from the lack of reliable clinical studies on the relevance of finding IgG antibodies in blood samples. The lack of use in mainstream medical practice also reduces confidence around the validity and reliability of tests and reinforces the concern that these tests are not being used because their results are not accurate. However, with suitable training around when to use the tests and how to interpret the results, a health professionals health professionals view on intolerance testing will only be increased as the results will be a useful addition to their clients data when exploring the underlying causes of their health issues.
